Arlene Abundis is a first-generation Cuban-American author and an Hermana at Las Musas Books. “A collective of Latinx women authors evolving the canon of children’s literature and celebrating the diversity of voice, experience, and power in our communities.” Arlene is represented by Tara Gonzalez at Erin Murphy Literary Agency.

A daughter of Cuban immigrants who bravely came from the Caribbean Sea. Arlene lives in Southern California with her husband who is from Mexico, where they are raising their three multicultural children and a pet tarantula. Arlene loves to watch I Love Lucy. Ricky Ricardo is her favorite Cubano on television.

Arlene is also a former teacher who advocates for migrating children through the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Young girls are the most vulnerable group for violence and human trafficking. She was also a participant in the Equality Forum for UN Women advocating for the power of comics and cartoons to advance gender equality.
